Some shoots need a whole set. This one just needed good light, good skin, and makeup that actually holds up under a macro lens.

Ashley Vega and I teamed up on a campaign for Beauty Creations Cosmetics, and the brief was simple on paper: no props, no wardrobe story, no set dressing. Just the finished look. Warm gold shadow, a glossy red lip, skin that looks touched but not filtered. The kind of shot where the makeup has to do all the talking, so there's nowhere for it to hide.

"When you strip everything else away, the makeup has nowhere to hide. That's when you know it's good."

That simplicity is deceptive though. Stripping everything else away means every choice in the frame matters more, not less. The angle of the chin, the catchlight in the eye, the exact second the smile hits before it starts to look posed. We leaned into a soft white backdrop and let the color do the work: that gold shifts warm against the skin, the red pops without going flat, and nothing in the frame competes with the product.

Working with Ashley on set made the pace easy. She knows how to build a look that photographs clean, not just clean in person, and that difference matters more than people think. What reads soft to the eye can go muddy on camera. What reads sharp in person can go harsh. We went back and forth between shots to dial in exactly where the shimmer caught the light best, then let the client's product be the whole story.

No overproduction, no gimmicks. Just a flawless final touch, shot the way it deserves to be seen.
